The Linden Tree:  Drawing   Charcoal drawing by adult student. Upper left shows a simplified geometric representation of the shell in the lower right. The words "Location, Orientation, Proportion, Shape" refer to the order in which an object is drawn. These rules, which we have developed, help a student make a foundation for a realistic drawing. Most beginners make the mistake of starting with details and thus end up with something that is misshapen and perhaps runs off the page. "LOPS" prevents that.
